Our mail processing working group, known affectionately as Fam Mail, is where the magic happens. Members meet weekly to sort all incoming mail, enter new members into the database, respond to inquiries for support or penpals, forward mail onto the rest of us, and hold a consistent meeting space for newly released members to come in-person and say hello. Letters come from existing inside family, new folks inquiring about membership, people seeking advocacy from outside members, artists sending us drawings, and more. We also coordinate birthday cards each month for all of our inside members.
